Private Smear Test at Gogodoc
At Gogodoc, we provide private smear tests (cervical screening) as part of our women's health services. A smear test is a routine procedure to check the health of your cervix and detect any early changes that could lead to cervical cancer.
Regular cervical screening is essential for preventing serious conditions and maintaining your reproductive health. Detecting abnormal cells early allows for effective treatment and reduces the risk of developing cervical cancer in the future.
Why Choose Us
Who Should Get a Smear Test
Smear tests are recommended for women and people with a cervix aged 25–74 (depending on local screening guidelines). Your GP at Gogodoc will discuss your individual risk factors and the appropriate testing schedule.
How a Smear Test is Performed
During a smear test, a trained clinician will gently take a small sample of cells from the cervix using a soft brush or spatula. The procedure is quick and typically takes only a few minutes.
Some patients may experience mild discomfort, pressure, or light cramping, but the test is generally well tolerated.
Your sample is then sent to a specialist laboratory to check for any abnormal or pre-cancerous cells. Early detection allows for timely follow-up and treatment where necessary. Once your results are available, a doctor will contact you to discuss the findings and next steps.
Please note: all in-clinic appointments will be at our clinic in Harley Street.
